15 points a day will be given for actively participating. Students will be required to come prepared, speak Chinese, and participate. Students will receive extra points if they are extraordinarily on task, participate, well-prepared, or speak Chinese 100% during class. In case of an absence, students need to ask for a copy of homework on their own or go to Mrs. Duke webpage under the school website to retrieve the information and learn at home what is taught in class at absence. MAKE SURE your name is on the homework and assignment sheets. Students who are absent will have one week to make up the daily participation points and turn them in by reading or listening a Chinese story online and write a summary about it in English. If a student is sick, they can do this at home on the day they are missing, or if they know they will miss class, they can prepare this assignment ahead of time.
Make-up Work/Homework 補交作業/家庭作業:
Assignments are to be turned in at the beginning of class on the day that they are due. Students will have one week (per absence) to make up worked missed for an excused absence. However, because of the nature of a foreign language class, some assignments will be impossible to make up---even if the absence is excused. Late work may be accepted but only 75% of points will be given. Most of our work will be done in class. However, in order to really learn to speak Chinese, students need to listen to and read in Chinese whenever possible. Practice the language whenever and where ever possible!!!
Pass通行證:
Students will receive “extra point ticket” in class for their extra participation and extra effort. Students may use their “tickets” (10 tickets) to use the bathroom retrieve an assignment from a locker, or attach it to a missing assignment for full credit the day after it is due. Lost “pass” may not be redeemed. Unused “pass” may also be turned in at the end of the term for extra credit!

Students should take advantage of this opportunity when it occurs, in case the need for extra credit arises at the end of the term. Unused “pass” may be turned in at the end of the term for extra credit.
