Today we reviewed all the words about Chinese greetings, numbers, colors, animlas, months, and day of the week and then we did the mid-term quiz.

April 25, Wednesday 四月二十五日星期三 - B Day

I was absent again for B-day. Didn't mean to, just received a call from the daycare that my son was sick and threw up. I had to ask to leave to pick up my son and take care of him. Therefore, again the 6th and 7th period Foreign Language students watched the video named Children of Hangzhou.

April 23, Monday - 四月二十三日星期一 - B Day

When I was ready for work, I found that my son had a fever, so I took a day off to take care of him. Therefore, 6th and 7th period Foreign Language students were asked to watch a video.

April 19, Thursday - 四月十九日星期四 - B Day

Today we have students do their powerpoint presentation about China first and then we do quick review about facts about China. Next we do the quiz about China. After we've done correcting the quiz, we learned animals with sentences. Of course, we review the words about animals and colors first. And then we put them into sentences.

橘jú actually is tangerine and 橙chéng is orange. So in color tangerine and orange are color orange. That's why we call orange either 橘jú 色sè or 橙chéng 色sè.
We used questions to review and practice the words like 虎hǔ 什shén 麼me 顏yán 色sè ? (What color is tiger? ), 熊xióng 什shén 麼me 顏yán 色sè ? (What color is bear?), etc.
And then we used small whiteboards to practice the colors and play color bingos.

April 13, Friday 四月十三日星期五 - B Day

Today I headed to Washington DC for National Chinese Language Conference. We had Mr. Mark Neville as our sub to help students learn and review the Chinese colors and numbers.

Foreign Language Survey -
#1, Have the students do the powerpoint presentation first.

#2, Please review the greetings, numbers, and colors with them. You may use small whiteboards or have them make flashcards.

#3, They love playing games. If you have any game would like to play with them, please feel free and do it.

April 11, Wednesday 四月十一日星期三 - B Day

Today we reviewed the numbers and colors. We played games about numbers and colors as well. After that, students were given a sheet of paper to work on.

April 9 Monday 四月九日星期一 - B Day

Today we reviewed the Chinese greeting song we learned and the numbers. We also learned 6-9 colors words. For 6th period we only learned 6 colors while 7th period learned 9. Why? Well, I have to say 7th period students were more respectful, quiet, and more willing to learn while 6th period few students tried to 'show off' themselves by breaking their pencils, erasers, papers, etc. and throwing to the floor. 6th period students learned the first 6 words of the followings.

白(bái) 色(sè) = white
紅(hóng) 色(sè) = red
灰(huī) 色(sè) = gray
藍(lán) 色(sè) = blue
綠(lǜ) 色(sè) = green
紫(zǐ) 色(sè) = purple

黃(huáng) 色(sè) = yellow

After that we played 'standing up game' and watched a movie named Forbidden Gongfu starred by Jackie Chan and Jet Li for 15-20 minutes.
