Today we watched a video named "Tank Man" from pbs.org and students were asked to answer the questions to the discussion questions about the tank man.

we first copied down the months from Jan-Dec, 一月,二月,三月,四月,五月,六月,七月,八月,九月,十月,十一月,十二月。We played games to review these words and then we work on the package about the months. Click the package to access the assignment.

we first copied down the numbers from 1-10, 一,二,三,四,五,六,七,八,九,十。We also learned a song with the rythm of little Indians. and we reviewed the song - where is my friend in Chinese. Later we worked on the sheet of numbers. We played a game about the numbers as well.

Today we learned the following words. 5th period students and 6th periods did different activities to practice the words.

#1, we reviewed the animals words as usual and then we introduced the new words with TPR. We also asked questions like
 "Tony, nǐ huì bù huì yóu yǒng?"
          你會不會游泳 (do you swim?)

Activities: 

a) each student was given a piece of lined-paper, and draw lines and wrote the words like the followings.

b) Students were pairs up and then in the pair Student A asked Student B, "shǔ huì bù huì pǎo? " And if Student B answered "shǔ huì pǎo," then Student A made a O on the crossing box with shǔ and pǎo; if the Student B answered "shǔ bù huì pǎo," then Student B made X on the crossing box with shǔ and pǎo. After Student A asked Student B all the questions about shǔ and then it's Student B's turn to ask Student A questions. They both need to write the partner's answer down on their paper. Students were given 15 minutes to complete this task. Students were given 3 minutes to find a partner and to ask the first row questions like shǔ huì bù huì pǎo?  shǔ huì bù huì pá? shǔ huì bù huì lā? etc. After the 1st 3 minutes, students were given another 3 minutes to find another partner to practice the sentences like  niǎo huì bù huì pǎo?niǎo huì bù huì pá? niǎo huì bù huì pá lā? etc.

FOR ABSENT STUDENTS - #1, Copy down the words/phrase and the lyric we learned in class onto the notebook today and show the teacher the notes. #2, Watch the video and write down 10 facts about the Chinese New Year Legend.

Today we first introduced the congrats phrases about Chinese New Year and then we discussed the culture about Chinese New Year. Next we learned the Chinese New Year Song. After that we made paper Chinese firecrackers.

新年快樂xīn nián kuài lè = Happy New Year
恭喜發財gōng xǐ fā cái = Congrats and Wish you fortune/rich
恭賀新禧gōng hè xīn xǐ = Congrats and Wish you new luck/happiness
大吉大利dà jí dà lì = Wish you great luck and fortune. 

We also reviewed the animals.

FOR THE ABSENT STUDENTS - PLEASE COPY DOWN THE WORDS WE LEARNED AND REVIEWED TODAY AND DOWNLOAD THE DRAGON PAPER, COLOR IT, AND SHOW THEM TO THE TEACHER WHEN YOU COME IN. 

Today we learned some new words about animals and reviewed the old ones. After that we used the small whiteboards to practice these animals. Next, students were given 25 minutes to color dragons to celebrate Chinese New Year.

We made 16 flashcards for animal and then we used the flashcards and played bingo games. After bingo games, we played animal charades.

Today we learned the following words, and reviewed the words taught last time. And then students were given a piece of paper and folded in 8 equal squares and we practice the words on the paper.
Students were asked to write down the pinyin (pronunciation), English meaning, and draw a picture to the word's meaning.
